CAMERON COUNTY TO TEST PUBLIC WARNING SYSTEMS ON APRIL 2

Cameron County Emergency Management will conduct a countywide test of its public warning systems on Thursday, April 2, 2026, between 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., as part of a coordinated statewide exercise.

During this time, residents may receive a test notification on their cell phones clearly indicating that it is part of a scheduled system test. This is only a test, and no action is required. The public is advised not to be alarmed.

To receive test notifications on your mobile device:

  • iPhone users: Go to Settings → Notifications → scroll to the bottom and enable Government Alerts.
  • Android users: Go to Settings → Notifications → Advanced Settings → Wireless Emergency Alerts and ensure alerts are enabled.

This test is being conducted in coordination with the Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) as part of a statewide initiative, in accordance with Chapter 418.043 of the Texas Government Code. Routine testing plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and effectiveness of public warning systems, helping to confirm that emergency notifications can be delivered accurately and promptly during severe weather events, disasters, or other emergencies.

Cameron County Emergency Management, in coordination with local, regional, state, and federal partners, remains committed to safeguarding the community through dependable and timely communication.

Public awareness and cooperation during this test are essential to maintaining readiness and strengthening the County’s emergency response capabilities.
