CAMERON COUNTY APPROVES LANDMARK AGREEMENT WITH SARONIC
TECHNOLOGIES FOR NEXT-GENERATION SHIPBUILDING FACILITY

Today, the Cameron County Commissioners’ Court approved economic development agreements to encourage Saronic Technologies to select Cameron County as their location-of-choice to establish a next-generation shipbuilding facility. The Saronic Technologies project, should Cameron County be selected, would deliver up to 10,000 high-paying, future-focused jobs, representing the largest private-sector job commitment in county history.

Cameron County has experienced exceptional growth over recent years, and the potential addition of Saronic Technologies will build on that momentum. The company would become the first in Cameron County dedicated to producing intelligent, autonomous maritime vessels and ships, often referred to as maritime drones. The creation of up to 10,000 high-paying jobs will strengthen families, expand opportunity, and elevate the economic trajectory of the entire region.

The County agreements with Saronic Technologies, Chapter 312 tax abatements, are valued at approximately $211 million over the four (4) phases of the project beginning in 2029. The agreements are based on number of new jobs created. In addition to the Cameron County agreements, Greater Brownsville EDC has offered a $10 million incentive to Saronic for 2026.

If Saronic Technologies moves forward with the site, Cameron County will share additional details in coordination with the company.
