Rep. Clay Doggett secures $500K for Giles County water infrastructure study

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Clay Doggett, R-Pulaski, has secured $500,000 in state funding for the Giles County Water Alliance.

The funding will be used to conduct a study to find an additional source of quality drinking water and to strengthen Giles County’s infrastructure.

“Like many rural communities, Giles County has faced ongoing challenges with water infrastructure and reliability,” Doggett said. “This funding will support a much-needed study to identify the most efficient, safe and cost-effective way for residents to have access to reliable, affordable drinking water. This critical initiative will strengthen collaboration and deliver long-term stability as demand continues to grow.”

A countywide study will determine whether a new water source is warranted and identify and permit a new source, if necessary.

The Giles County Water Alliance is a partnership between local water utilities, the Giles County Commission and the mayors of Ardmore and Lynnville, providing a forum for information sharing and collaboration.

The appropriated funds are part of a $58.3 billion balanced budget passed by lawmakers in April. Republican priorities include significant investments to boost academic outcomes, strengthen infrastructure, improve access to health care and promote safe communities across Tennessee.

Lawmakers also made significant investments in rural development, including $15 million for the Rural Development Fund for business development and infrastructure.

State Rep. Clay Doggett represents District 70 in the Tennessee House of Representatives, which includes Giles and part of Lawrence and Lincoln counties.
