Input from Buncombe Residents to Guide Early Voting Times, Locations
By taking part in a recently launched survey, Buncombe County residents will have a say in where and when early voting will take place this fall. It is up to the Board of Elections to determine the number of early voting sites and weekend hours for the 2026 General Election. Residents can see the proposed plan including voting sites, hours of operation, weekend voting availability, and more at engage.buncombecounty.org/2026generalearlyvotingsurvey. The five-question survey is open now and closes on Friday, June 19 at 5 p.m. The survey is also available in Spanish.
“We value community input, and we are excited to hear what you have to say,” said Buncombe County Elections Director Corinne Duncan. “Building the plan is one of the most important duties of our Board of Elections, and your thoughts and ideas inform our decisions.” New locations and optimized weekend hours were incorporated in previous plans as a result of public input.
Early Voting is the most popular voting method for Buncombe County, with over 70,000 ballots cast during the 2022 mid-term General Election. Unlike Election Day, with assigned polling locations, registered voters can vote at any Buncombe County site during Early Voting, and new voters can register and vote at any early voting site
What’s next?
The Board of Elections will review the survey results and in-person feedback on the plan during its meeting on June 23. During the July 14 meeting, the Board of Elections will review additional community feedback and vote on adoption of the plan. The Early Voting Plan must be submitted to NC State Board of Elections by July 24 for review and final approval.
