COWETA COUNTY MAN INDICTED ON TIMBER THEFT-RELATED CHARGES

A Coweta County man has been indicted by Georgia Forestry Commission law enforcement officials on charges of failure to pay for natural products and theft by conversion following an investigation into suspected timber theft.

Forty-one-year-old Jeremy Evens of Senoia is charged with one count of failure to pay for natural products and one count of theft by conversion.

The case began September 5, 2025, when a landowner filed a timber complaint stating he had not received payment from a timber harvest conducted in February 2025.

After a thorough investigation by Georgia Forestry Commission Law Enforcement, which included assistance from local mills and GFC foresters, officials determined the landowner had not been paid for timber harvested from his 21-acre tract.

Georgia Forestry Commission officials say the case highlights the importance of protecting Georgia’s landowners and forest resources.

“This was a team effort from Georgia Forestry Commission personnel to ensure we continue to protect and sustain Georgia’s timber industry,” GFC Director Johnny Sabo said.
