MPD Makes Quick Arrest in Box-Cutter Assault
The Metropolitan Police Department announces an arrest of a suspect who attacked two victims with a box-cutter.
On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at approximately 2:40 p.m., the suspect attempted to steal from a business in the 1900 block of 14th Street, Northwest, and was confronted by two employees. The suspect then produced a box-cutter and swung at the employees while making verbal threats to kill them. The suspect fled the scene with the stolen property and was quickly apprehended by responding officers. The box-cutter believed to have been used in the attack was recovered.
64-year-old Rita Walker, of Northwest,D.C.was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife).
