Sweden and Ukraine deepen innovation and digitalisation cooperation

SWEDEN, November 7 - Published

On 4 November, Sweden and Ukraine signed a letter of intent on enhanced innovation cooperation at the WINWIN Summit in Kyiv. Despite the extraordinary challenges Ukraine faces, the country has demonstrated in a powerful way how innovation can develop under pressure. Sweden is deeply committed to supporting Ukraine and the countries share mutual objectives to achieve peace and contribute to development in Europe.

“Ukraine is displaying outstanding resilience and creativity and positioning itself as a new power on the global innovation landscape. Ukraine’s innovation journey is not just about winning the war or its recovery, it is about redefining what is possible. As a leading global innovation nation, Sweden values being involved in and supporting Ukraine on this journey,” says Minister for Energy, Business and Industry Ebba Busch.

Sweden was a co-founder of an international science, research and innovation coalition that was launched during the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome in July. Now, through the Ministry of Climate and Enterprise, Sweden has gone further and signed a letter of intent with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine on cooperation in the field of innovation and digitalisation. For the numerous Swedish businesses and authorities on the ground in Ukraine, or cooperating with Ukrainian actors, this letter of intent shows the Government’s desire and ambition to increase innovation cooperation with Ukraine.

The letter of intent is a step towards a future bilateral innovation.
