Minister for Foreign Affairs to visit Berlin

SWEDEN, September 15 - Published

Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard is visiting Berlin on 16 September for meetings with Germany’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Johann Wadephul and other German representatives.

The Berlin visit is an important opportunity to develop joint action on foreign and security policy issues at a crucial time. Support to Ukraine, in which Germany and Sweden are major actors, is a key discussion issue.

“In a situation with major and rapid changes taking place in the world around us, it is important to work closely with our neighbours. Germany is a close ally and the exchange between our two countries is extensive. For Ukraine, and globally, it is essential to act in dialogue with Germany to meet the challenges facing the Baltic Sea region,” says Ms Malmer Stenergard.

The visit is also an opportunity to take part in the numerous activities taking place within Sweden’s strategic innovation partnership with Germany. It was expanded in May 2024 to also include the areas of security, defence and space.

There will be a joint press conference following the meeting with Mr Wadephul.

Time: Tuesday, 16 September at 11.15 am.
