NRG Indian River Reliability Must Run Tariff Expiration
On December 23rd, PJM filed a termination notice at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) ending the reliability must run (RMR) tariff with NRG for operations at NRG’s Indian River coal plant. NRG has 65 days to wind down operations at the plant. PJM entered into the RMR agreement with NRG until additional transmission capacity could be built by Delmarva Power to support the flow of electricity on the Delmarva Peninsula. That work was completed on December 20th. This is a big win for all Delaware electric customers because transmission rates will decrease in 2025.
