Gregg Marshall Stutchman was born on April 22, 1952, to Marshall and Thelma Stutchman, in Eureka, Ca, where he spent his childhood. He passed away on Dec. 1, 2023, at his home in Yountville, surrounded by family, after a valiant 2-year battle with pancreatic cancer. It’s difficult to condense Gregg’s life into a paragraph, or two. He managed to pack so much into his 71 years. His focal point, throughout his life, was his close walk with Jesus, and “to love people”, as he often said, and love people he did, especially his three cherished children.

Gregg’s work in the criminal justice system began in 1973. The first 12 years were spent working in all phases of law enforcement. An injury forced Gregg to change career paths, and he entered the private sector as a State Licensed Investigator in 1985. In 1992, he opened his own business, Stutchman Forensic Laboratory. He continued education & training in forensic technology and testified extensively as an expert witness in courts throughout the United States and Canada. Gregg’s life was one of service to God and his fellow man. He
was a positive, happy man, always looking at the “glass half full”. He was a youth leader in his church and he mentored and loved many kids over the years. His home and heart were always open and his love was unconditional. He stayed connected with these kids, (now adults), until his death. He worked as Chief of Security at Soquel Seventh Day Adventist Campmeeting for over 46 years. During that time, his crew became a part of his family. He used this opportunity to witness for God, loving people as was his nature. People were drawn to Gregg because Christ’s love shone through every aspect of his life. Gregg was a member of the St. Helena Seventh Day Adventist

Church for 46 years. He held multiple offices, the last as Head Elder. His sermons and storytelling were always inspiring, positive, and full of hope. Photography, woodworking, and target practice were Gregg’s favorite hobbies.

Gregg is survived by his chil dren Jonathan Lucchesi-Stutchmman (Franchesca), John Stutchman, and Amber Stutchman, grandsons Alessandro , and Leonardo Lucchesi-Stutchman; and sister Andrea Pfaff. Gregg is also survived by his niece Kellie Braithwaite (Mark), nephew Jason Young (Randi), great nieces and nephews, Kacie Homen (Scott), Alli Connaughton (Liam), Kami Chattin, Dylan Young, and Rylan Braithwaite. He is also survived by his Soquel family, his youth family, his church family, and his many beloved friends. Gregg’s family would like toexpress appreciation to everyone for their love, prayers, and support.

A celebration of life/memorial will be held to honor Gregg on Saturday, January 27th, 2024 at 3pm at the St. Helena Seventh Day Adventist church.
