— Amy Perrin Ross, Co-Chair of the CMSC’s Scientific Program Committee

HACKENSACK, NEW JERSEY, USA, May 31, 2023/EINPresswire.com/ -- As the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC) kicks off its live Annual Meeting in Aurora, Colorado, May 31–June 3, the CMSC has released its book of Scientific Abstracts to be presented in conjunction with the meeting.

The 24 research reports selected as Platform Presentations will be presented orally on Thursday, June 1, between 3:00 and 5:00 pm Mountain Time (MT). “We encourage research that reflects collaboration between the many disciplines involved in MS care,” said Amy Perrin Ross, APN, MSN, CNRN, MSCN, co-chair of the CMSC’s Scientific Program Committee. New this year is a platform session on the topic of neuroimaging in MS, noted Ms. Perrin Ross, Neuroscience Program Coordinator at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL. “We are also seeing a trend toward reporting on Phase IV trial results,” she added. “These are postmarketing studies of already approved disease-modifying therapies that can help to better inform us about efficacy outcomes, safety data, and pregnancy outcomes.”

"The CMSC is an incredibly unique organization that strongly encourages and supports emerging research from different sectors, backgrounds and experience levels,” added Carrie M. Hersh, DO, MSc, FAAN, Scientific Program Committee co-chair. “We fully support junior and emerging investigators and invite them to contribute further to the MS scientific research space at CMSC,” said Dr. Hersh, Associate Professor of Neurology at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine and a neuroimmunologist at Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas, NV. This includes outreach to a more diverse group of trainees in clinical medicine and research, in an effort to foster greater diversity among the workforce of the future.

In addition to the oral platforms, over 260 posters and abstracts have been accepted within the following 13 categories:
• Diagnosis and Prognosis
• Basic Science
• Mental Health and Psychosocial Issues
• Comprehensive Clinical Care – The Team Approach
• Disease Modification and its Outcomes

• Neuroimaging and Neurophysiology
• Programs that Support Quality of Life
• Rehabilitation Research and Strategies
• Symptom Management
• Advances in Technology
• Patient Reported Outcomes

The live poster session during the CMSC Annual Meeting is set for Thursday, June 1, from 5:15 to 7:15 pm MT. Investigators will stand by their posters between 6 and 7 pm to answer questions about their research.
