Traffic pattern changes on U.S. 30 between Nevada and Colo begin on Monday, April 3

Posted on: March 23, 2023

JEFFERSON, Iowa – March 23, 2023 – If you travel on U.S. 30 between Nevada and Colo you need to be aware of an upcoming construction project that may slow you down a bit. On Monday, April 4, crews will start setting up a work zone with lane closures to get ready for a construction project in the area.

The project to completely reconstruct the eastbound lanes on U.S. 30 is expected to start Friday, April 7 and go through Thursday, Oct. 12. During construction, travelers on eastbound U.S. 30 will be driving in a head-to-head pattern on westbound U.S. 30. You’ll be able to turn right at access points along U.S. 30, but no left turns will be allowed.

The intersection of U.S. 30 and 667th Avenue will be closed so drivers will follow a marked route using 670th Avenue, 667th Avenue, 250th Street, and 680th Avenue (see map).

Help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
