Judicial Council Sunsets Emergency COVID-19 Orders

California’s Judicial Council on Friday voted to wind down eight remaining emergency rules enacted two years ago to help courts grapple with COVID-19. The measures will end on June 30. The provisions allowed remote criminal proceedings, tolled statutes of limitations in civil matters and made other changes to accommodate less court staffing and more physical distancing.
