A RESOLUTION

Recognizing the week of May 9 through 15, 2021, as "National

Hospital Week" in Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, Pennsylvania hospitals and health systems ensure

that health care services are available in this Commonwealth 24

hours a day, seven days a week, providing acute inpatient care

as well as outpatient, emergency, behavioral health,

rehabilitation, long-term and home care; and

WHEREAS, Pennsylvania's 42 trauma centers, seven burn centers

and 16 critical access hospitals deliver specialized care for

the most rural populations in this Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is home to seven medical degree-

granting schools as well as numerous academic medical centers

and teaching hospitals that train future health care providers

and invest in critical health research; and

WHEREAS, "National Hospital Week" dates back to 1921, in

Chicago, as an event to build trust following the Spanish

influenza outbreak; and
