Washington’s new vaccine dashboard will offer new window into progress

OLYMPIA –  The Washington State Department of Health (DOH), in partnership with Microsoft AI for Health, is proud to announce vaccine data is now available on our dashboard, an addition that will help us share progress being made statewide as we endeavor to get COVID-19 vaccine to millions of people across the state of Washington.

The dashboard now includes a high-level vaccination snapshot under the Current Status tab as well as a new Vaccinations tab with statewide and county-level data on where, when and how many people are getting vaccinated.

In the new tab, you can view the number of doses given in each county and statewide in a map view or by date. For the state level, you can also see the number of doses delivered to providers and the number of doses delivered through the federal long-term care program. The new tab also shows the population percentage and number of people who have received at least one dose of vaccine and completed the recommended number of doses in each county and the state.

All healthcare providers in our state (including hospitals, pharmacies and primary care providers) are required to report when they give a COVID-19 vaccine to a patient within 24 hours of doing so. Most vaccination data should appear in the dashboard within seven days of when the vaccine was given. We will update the dashboard three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

“This partnership and expanded data sharing is what we mean when we talk about DOH prioritizing innovation and engagement,” said Secretary of Health Umair A. Shah, MD, MPH. “Ensuring access to this type of data is an important part of our commitment to equity, innovation and engagement. The dashboard will provide a critical window for the public to understand what’s happening in our vaccine response.”

“We are honored to partner with the Department of Health to develop data-driven dashboards that show the progress of state and county-level COVID-19 vaccinations,” said John Kahan, VP, Chief Data Analytics Officer and global lead for the AI for Health program. “This will provide timely, updated data and insights and serve as a valuable tool for Washington State as we work to protect our community.”

“We are excited to be sharing this crucial tool to track our vaccine growth to date,” said Michele Roberts, one of the DOH leaders for the vaccine rollout. “We are making steady progress on the number of vaccines administered each day. This dashboard will help create transparency around Washington’s progress.”

“Even though the first month has been challenging – with launching vaccine distribution over the holidays and reporting delays – the number of vaccines given is growing daily. And there’s more good news: we’ve seen provider enrollment jump by the hundreds. That means as we get more vaccine, there will be places for people to get their vaccine,” Roberts said.

Additional metrics will be added to the dashboard in the future. For now, we will continue to provide some additional data, like the number of doses allocated to the state, in our weekly media briefings and news releases. You can sign up to receive news releases at doh.wa.gov/newsroom.
