How to Prevent an Automatic Upgrade to Windows 10 (and Keep Your Color Label Printer Working)

Microsoft Updates to Windows 10 can cause color label printers to stop working.

CHEYENNE, WY, UNITED STATES, June 25, 2016 / -- Did you know that your Windows 7 or Windows 8 computer could possibly upgrade itself to Windows 10? Whether this is desirable is debatable, especially if you rely on a color label printer and other devices to work day in, day out. According to Basat Khalifa, CEO of DuraFast Label Company, some users have found that their color label printers no longer work under Windows 10. “They either have to download and install new printer drivers, or revert to the previous operating system,” he said. “Either way, it’s an inconvenience that takes time.”

Moreover, not all manufacturers have released updated printer drivers, making it necessary to find a workaround. “If the upgrade happened within the last 30 days, we’re recommending that our customers undo the upgrade,” Khalifa explained. “They can click on Settings > Update & Security > Recovery. From there, they’d select Go Back to either Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.”

Khalifa also recommended using a free utility called Never 10 to prevent the upgrade from occurring in the first place. “This utility buys you time until the updated printer drivers are released,” he explained. “Then when you’re ready to upgrade, you can reverse the setting if desired. By installing Never 10, you’re in charge, not your computer.”
