SECOND NATURE, Humor is Food for Thought

ELLENSBURG, WASHINGTON, UNITED STATES, July 9, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- SECOND NATURE is independent filmmaking as you’ve never seen it before. Its wry sense of humor is food for thought. Too many times when previewing an indie film effort, you might think, “Well, that’s nice,” or even, “Pretty good, even if a little bit rough.” You won’t think any of those things after viewing the teaser footage of SECOND NATURE, or after reading the storyboard.

First, you will identify with one of the lead characters – which one, kind of depends whether you are male or female. Then, you will laugh – because the world gets completely flipped over, and women are the dominant gender, and little throwaways like “Caution: Woman Hole” on a sign posted over an open service hatch in the street is definitely worth a chuckle or even a belly laugh.

Amanda, the female leading character, was running her campaign for the mayor’s office based on the idea that men are power hungry, and that women would therefore do a better job of leading. But when she makes a wish that men could act more like women, while struggling with Bret (her opposition – and the male lead for the show) for possession of her grandmother’s antique mirror, everything changes. Bret wakes up to discover that he now owns several cats and is dealing with a whole different set of problems than the ones he once had. Amanda discovers that her frail grandmother now cusses like a sailor, and her Aunt Ruth is the city manager. And to Bret’s horror – Hooters has changed into Peckers! The question becomes, is this really the world that Amanda wanted?

If the synopsis provided for the Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign is any indication, the laughs are going to provide food for some serious thinking. And that’s not all.

The people working on this film have impressive backgrounds. First off, Michael has been directing award winning films since age fifteen, graduated magna cum laude from USC School of Cinematic Arts, and has worked in the field directing commercials and documentaries. Lee Majors, of Fall Guy and Six Million Dollar Man, will play Mayor Gleason. Line producer Susan LaSalle was owner and lead producer for Millennium Arts for five years, during which time she produced more than 200 documentaries, PSAs and commercials. After that she turned to feature films such as Mambo Café and Full Disclosure. Director of photography Andre Garreton has been cinematographer for more than 27 including Outpatient and Resurrection Blvd. Grammy Award winning composer Mateo Messina writes for film, television and the symphony. His sound can be heard in Juno, Angriest Man in Brooklyn and Up in the Air. Writers JC Ford and Edi Zanadache also have impressive portfolios. JC is a graduate of University of California’s School of Cinematic Arts, and believes strongly that SECOND NATURE addresses very real problems of women in the workplace. Edi has is adept at handling comedy, and brings a much needed element of humor to the film. And the list doesn’t even end there. Also on board are Editor Cindy Sangster, Costume Designer Ron Leamon, Sound Engineer Vincent Gates and Social media guru Taylor Shown.

Even with all of this impressive talent, SECOND NATURE needs your help. The money from the Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign will be used first to hire and pay the actors to fulfill the roles. It will also be used to secure locations, for transportation, equipment rentals, and production insurance.

SECOND NATURE is a dramatic comedy with a conscience – first come the laughs, and then the thought. It examines women’s roles in a humorous, but direct, way that shines a spotlight on the need for equality rather than dominance between genders. It is more than just another film about the battle between the sexes – it is an analytical examination of issues many women face on a daily basis. Through the dominance reversal scenario, it shines a spotlight on the various misconceptions of exactly what equality might look like. By contributing to this campaign, you will support – not only great talent – but the ideal of equality between women and men.

About: Michael Cross, award winning film director, has taken on an ambitious and worthwhile project. Backed by a talented and experienced team, he brings humor and thought to the age-old struggle for equality between men and women.
