Rerun, A Chance to Change Regrets

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, April 24, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- You are old, you are ill. Your wife of fifty years is dead. But you, George Benson, have a chance to be transported back to a time before you even knew her – to when you had the perfect love. Back to a “when” before you were responsible for the death of the woman who was your first love. George Benson, you have a chance to re-write your personal history.

This is the premise of “Rerun,” a film by Stonestreet Studios, written in tribute to “It’s a Wonderful Life.” George Benson has an opportunity to go back in time to right a wrong that irrevocably changed his life.

Yet all things have their price. Even as he is arriving in his previous time, George is met by a child who tells him, “Go back. You don’t belong here.”

From the few clips presented in the Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign and on the Stonestreet Studios webpage, it is clear that George’s return to his previous life doesn’t exactly go smoothly. In addition to regular complications caused by his own bad choices and life in general, it would seem that his journey back in time has been noticed – and not especially appreciated. Will George actually be able to save his lost love? Will he be able to turn his life around? Or is he doomed to make the same mistakes he made before?
More importantly, like so many movies that deal with going back in time, viewers are asked to consider what they might have done differently in their own lives. They are invited to walk down those “paths not taken” and to imagine what might have happened made different choices.

The energy for this production is very high, and the filming quality is excellent. Most of the scenes have been shot, and the preliminary editing is done. But there are things the producers and young actors say need to happen before this film is ready to go to film festivals. They would like to attract a “big name” actor to play George Benson when he is old. (Negotiations are in progress, but it is too early for further comment.) The film needs color correction, score recording and special effects. Final shooting will need to be added.

Needs do not stop with post production editing and final filming. The film will also need a public relations campaign to help it go to festivals and even wind up in theatres.

The actors and production team come from Stonestreet Screen Acting Workshop, which is the drama conservatory for the New York University Tisch School of the Arts Drama Department. Gary O. Bennett wrote the screenplay, and it is directed by Allysa Rallo Bennett. The actors auditioned for the parts. Their fresh, enthusiastic talent is only equaled by the hard work they have put into creating this film.

Director Alyssa Rallo Bennett is the artistic director and co-founder of Stonestreet Studios. She has a distinguished record of directing successful movies, and previously has created winning movies working with Gary O. Bennett, the writer. One in particular that stands out is “The Pack,” which was featured at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival. At the Wildwood Film Festival it won best director, best actress, best supporting actor and the Rising Star award. It was recently re-released by Filmrise as “Smoking, Non-smoking.”

There is a very good chance that Rerun will be an even bigger success. The production crew and the actors are determined to finish it. But your support can make the difference between a good film and a great film.
You can get some great rewards from your contribution. These include the traditional “thank you” for small contributions, an official movie poster from Rerun, a DVD of the movie mailed to you at your home address, a thank you video (nice step up from the traditional thanks), your name in the credits, an invitation to the “It’s a wrap” party with cast and crew, your name on the credits as an associate producer, and two invitations to private screening events. Of course, all rewards are scaled to be in proportion to contributions.

Visit the Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign page and Like or Tweet this amazing film. The trailers and clips alone are worth watching – and deserve all the support you can manage to give.
