JH Comics Takes Cleveland at the February Comic Con
PARMA, OHIO, UNITED STATES, January 12, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Ever since his first superhero was born on a sheet of loose leaf notebook paper, Joseph Haas has been building the JH Comics universe. His ninth grade geometry teacher might not have appreciated the fact that instead of measuring right angles and solving proofs, comic inspiration was taken place in the classroom, but that’s where JH Comics and Haas’ first superhero were born. Geometry’s loss is the comic book’s gain, as Haas and his BEACON series continue to develop into popular features destined to attract a growing audience of fans.
Fast forward from 9th grade to Spring, 2014. Haas distributed 1000 copies of his first comic book, BEACON. At the Akron Comic Convention in June, he released BEACON#2. He wants to expand the JH Comics universe by reaching a bigger audience. The costs of promoting and producing those 1000 issues left the superhero-drawing cartoonist with a supersized hole in his budget. That’s why he’s turning to Indiegogo for a crowdfunding campaign to help raise the $5000 that he needs to pay for a booth and tickets at the Cleveland Comic Con in February, 2015. The proceeds will also cover the costs of t-shirts, posters, and giveaway items, as well as printing more books, posters, and shirts.
The Cleveland Comic Con, which will be held at the Cleveland Convention Center from February 20-22, is the meeting place where top Comic Con favorites like William Shatner, Bruce Campbell, Seth Gillam, and Taryn Manning will be on hand with the likes of “Pippin” from The Lord of the Rings, Corey Feldman from The Goonies, and The Incredible Hulk himself, Lou Ferrigno. For fans of comic books and pop culture, comic cons are the Emerald City in the Land of Oz: a place where magic and imagination come together to create a population of fandom that’s unrivaled
For Haas, part of the allure of JH Comics is sharing ideas with others who have invested their dreams in the comic universe. Do you have an idea that might find a home in the JH comic world of heroes? Haas wants to bring his world to life and in order to do that, he needs the help of other like-minded creators. Have ideas for heroes and villains, characters, and storylines been bubbling up in your imagination? Write your idea, or draw it, and submit it to Haas’ fan fiction page where other fans can see them. Haas wants to create a comics universe that’s alive with adventure and creativity, as well as responsive to the input of readers.
Crowdfunding donors will receive perks that reflect the appeal of the comic world. If it’s always been your dream to show up in a comic book, a donation of $1 or more will earn you a thank you in the next five issues of JH Comics. Is there a particular cover, page, or panel from a JH Comics issue that catches your fancy? Your $15 donation will earn you a poster of that image. A donation of $50 will bring a hardbound copy of BEACON #1 and Beacon#2. You can receive a custom drawing of any character in the pose of your choice in exchange for your $75 donation. A donation of $75 can also be your admission ticket to the mean streets of the comic book, as your plans to buy a hot dog are interrupted by Crosswire’s decision to wreck Main Street. If you donate $500 to the campaign, you can send Haas a backstory, costume and name and see your creation turn up in the plot, possibly even becoming a recurring character. Other perks include tee-shirts, signed copies of the comics, and, for a donation of $550, the opportunity to control the fate of the comic book by creating your own storyline.

About JH Comics
Joseph Haas, the name—and pencil—behind JH Comics (www.comicsjh.com), has been drawing his superheroes since his school days, where he used his notebooks as drawing pads for what would become the JH Comics universe. When he attended the 2014 Cleveland Comic Con, he launched JH Comics as a business enterprise, attracting the attention of multiple local comic book stores that agreed to sell his books. His comic kingdom has expanded into merchandising, with pins, shot glasses, hoodies, sweatshirts, and phone cases available for purchase on his website.
