Felony Plea for Assaulting a State Trooper

PORT TOWNSEND, WA – James Kennedy, Elected Prosecutor for Jefferson County, announced today that Camille C. Ehn, 35, of Olympia, has pled guilty to Assault in the Third Degree, a Class C felony, for her role in assaulting a Washington State Trooper during a traffic stop on October 4, 2025.

According to the probable cause statement, on October 4, 2025, Trooper Johanson responded to a report of domestic violence in progress involving a white Subaru Outback on US-101 in Jefferson County. Upon contact, Ehn was identified as the driver exhibiting signs of intoxication, including a heavy odor of intoxicants and an open bottle of wine in the vehicle. Ehn became non-compliant, leading to a use of force incident where she punched the Trooper in the face. The passenger also interfered, resulting in additional assaults on the officer.

"This case highlights the significant dangers faced by law enforcement officers, particularly when working alone in the west end of the county where resources are spread thin," said Prosecutor James Kennedy. "Our officers put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities, and incidents like this underscore the need for adequate support and backup for those serving in rural areas." Prosecutor Kennedy stressed the importance of public safety and respect for law enforcement. "We will continue to prosecute these cases vigorously to ensure our officers can perform their duties without fear of violence."

Ehn, a first-time offender, was sentenced to probation following her guilty plea. Kennedy noted that his office supported a stronger sentence, but could not ask for more due to the State’s sentencing reform act.

Ehn’s codefendant previously pled guilty to assault in the second degree.

The Washington State Patrol and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office provided critical assistance in the investigation and arrest.
