Morris Solar Project Nearing Completion

ADAIR COUNTY, Mo. — A project that a northeast Missouri county learned about nearly four years ago is almost finished.

The Morris Solar Project, which will be the largest solar farm in the Show-Me State, is located east of State Highway 3 near Troy Mills in Adair County and extends south toward the Kirksville Regional Airport.

The nearly $400 million facility will have solar panels covering 1,100 acres of land.

AES Senior Project Manager Jeff Cole told us in the past that the completion date was expected to be in March, but Mother Nature changed those plans.

*”We originally anticipated a late March 2025 substantial completion [date], and due to a couple of difficult winters out here, we going to be testing sometime in mid-Q2,” Cole said. “Meaning probably May, sometime in May would be realistic.”*
