Ways to Vote in the 2026 Primary

Mail-In Absentee Voting (Excuse Required)

Eligible voters who meet one of Kentucky’s designated absentee qualifications can vote by mail.

• Online request portal opens: April 4, 2026

• Deadline to request a ballot: May 5, 2026

• Ballots must be received by: 6:00 p.m. on Election Day (May 19, 2026)

Requests must be submitted through the state portal once it opens.

In-Person Absentee Voting (Excuse Required)

Qualified voters with an approved excuse may vote absentee in person at the Clerk’s Office during designated dates.

Voters must meet one of the legally designated reasons to vote during this period.

In-Person Early Voting (No Excuse Required)

Early voting is available to all registered Madison County voters without providing a reason.

Primary Election Day (No Excuse Required)

Voters may cast their ballot in person on Election Day at any approved Madison County polling location.

Madison County uses a countywide polling location model. Therefore, registered Madison County voters can vote at any approved polling location during early voting or on Election Day.
