Minister for Social Services to take part in World Summit for Social Development in Doha
SWEDEN, November 3 - Published
On 4–6 November, Minister for Social Services Camilla Waltersson Grönvall will take part in the UN World Summit for Social Development in Doha.
The second such Summit will be held 30 years after the 1995 UN World Summit in Copenhagen – this time in Qatar’s capital, Doha. Ms Waltersson Grönvall will lead the Swedish delegation to the Summit.
Based on the 1995 Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and the 2030 Agenda, the Summit will focus on global poverty reduction, children’s rights, full employment and social integration.
“One of the key input values of this Summit is ensuring that children’s rights are at the top of the agenda. Sweden has been, and will remain, a forerunner on this issue. Now, we’re exporting Sweden’s approach to children’s rights,” says Ms Waltersson Grönvall.
The Summit is expected to gather more than 15 000 participants, including heads of state and government, UN Secretary-General António Guterres and President of the UN General Assembly Annalena Baerbock.
Ms Waltersson Grönvall will be available for interviews in conjunction with the Summit. You are welcome to contact Cassandra Lundgren for interview requests and more information.
