Innovation and cooperation focus for Benjamin Dousa’s US visit and participation in Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund

SWEDEN, October 14 - Published

Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa is visiting Boston and Washington on 14–17 October.

During the visit to Boston, Mr Dousa will meet with Swedish companies and visit Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard. The focus will be on student and research exchanges and on presenting Sweden as a leader in innovation and research.

“I see great potential in further strengthening cooperation to increase innovation capacity and competitiveness. One of my messages is that we want to see more students, researchers and innovators in Sweden,” says Mr Dousa.

In Washington, Mr Dousa will take part in the 2025 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund. He will meet leadership representatives of the World Bank Group to emphasise Swedish priorities for the World Bank Group’s work going forward, such as climate, gender equality, private sector development and support for Ukraine. Mr Dousa will also meet with Ukraine’s Minister of Finance Sergii Marchenko. In addition, meetings with representatives of the US administration and Congress are planned.

“Since Russia’s full-scale invasion, the World Bank Group has facilitated over USD 81 billion in support to Ukraine. I want the World Bank Group to continue being a strong partner to Ukraine, something that Sweden has contributed to,” says Mr Dousa.
