Layoffs hit collections department
The protesters had hoped the court would pause the layoffs and reexamine its finances in order to find a way to save the 15 jobs. That decision, like the one to make the cuts in the first place, would come from the state, not the county, said county spokesperson Natalie Hernandez. On Fri., Oct. 4, 14 of the 15 workers were laid off.
