Workshop on Poverty Impact and Vulnerability Estimator System Solutions
Time of Event
Day 1: 09:30–18:10 Tokyo time
Day 2: 09:30–19:00 Tokyo time
Summary
ADBI has collaborated with the Tokyo-based start-up company LocationMind Inc. and three other organizers—the Asian Development Bank, Innovation Hub, and the High-Level Technology Fund—to organize a workshop on the Poverty Impact and Vulnerability Evaluation (PIVE) tool to help policy makers, planners, and other urban planning and disaster management stakeholders grasp information quickly and efficiently in response to dynamic changes in society and the environment.
The PIVE tool addresses the significant impacts of dynamic societal changes, particularly on vulnerable populations within urban environments. It is designed to provide quick and efficient access to constantly update information for policy makers and stakeholders involved in urban planning and disaster management.
Day 1 of the workshop will focus on the utility of big data for solving socioeconomic problems, led by the CEO of LocationMind Inc. The CTO of LocationMind Inc. will introduce the PIVE tool and explain its relevance for practitioners and its components: Mobile GPS Data, Satellite Analysis Data, Survey App, and Chatbot. Subsequent sessions will cover the analysis of GPS data and satellite data, highlighting their benefits and applications. The afternoon will feature a panel discussion with representatives from various organizations, followed by hands-on training on the PIVE system, including demonstrations of the Chatbot and SurveyApp, which are designed to improve community-based information systems and transportation planning.
Day 2 will cover advanced exploration and practical application of the PIVE tool. Morning sessions will cover advanced GPS data analysis and satellite data analysis, equipping participants with the skills to interpret complex datasets and apply satellite imagery for urban and environmental monitoring. In the afternoon, interactive workshops will provide hands-on training with real-world scenarios, integrating GPS and satellite data and using the SurveyApp and Chatbot.
The afternoon session will comprise a field visit to a local government office in Japan to see how digital technologies are used in disaster preparedness and response.
