Natural Capital Symposium 2024
Description
Stanford University’s Natural Capital Project will convene high-level leaders from government, multilateral finance, the private sector, research institutions, and civil society for the Natural Capital Symposium from 4-7 June 2024 at the Stanford University campus.
Discussions will focus on socioeconomic inequities and biodiversity; scaling natural capital approaches in government and international financial institutions; private sector action for nature; natural capital accounting and approaches to economic valuation; and results-based financing and finance to revive biodiversity, among many others.
ADB has partnered with Stanford University’s Natural Capital Project since 2020 as part of its Natural Capital Lab initiative.

Objectives
Event objectives include:
- Learning a deeper awareness and understanding of natural capital, natural capital assessments and accounting, and their role in policy and finance decision-making and its contribution to sustainable development.
- Identifying opportunities for aligning natural capital principles and approaches with existing policy framework, investments, and on-the-ground projects to reach development objectives.
- Empowering practitioners who are well equipped in the application of natural resource assessment and accounting in a practical setting.
- Fostering dialogue and collaboration, and possibly encouraging the development of tailored financial solutions to address the specific challenges and opportunities of investing in natural capital.
Target participants
High-level leaders from government, multilateral finance, the private sector, research institutions, and civil society.
