MPD Arrests Teen for an Assault, Weapon Recovered
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District announce the arrest of a teen for pointing a gun at two victims.
On Sunday, April 7, 2024, at approximately 12:55 p.m., the suspect and the victims were riding in the same vehicle when an argument ensued. The victim stopped the vehicle in the 600 block of Morton Place, Northeast, and the suspect and another passenger exited the vehicle as well as the two victims. The suspect entered a residence and exited holding a rifle. The suspect pointed the rifle at one of the victims while threatening the victim, and then broke the vehicle’s window with the rifle. The suspect then pointed the rifle at the other victim and the victims fled the scene. Investigating officers later located the firearm.
On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, a 14-year-old juvenile male of Northeast, DC, turned himself in to the Fifth District Police Station. He was arrested pursuant to a DC Superior Court custody order and was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Unlawful Discarding of a Firearm, Threats to Injure or Kidnap, and Destruction of Property.
