Houston Project Management Firm Completes Large International Project

11/16/2011 // Houston, TX, USA // mbrinkley // Millie Brinkley, Vice President

Integrated Consulting (http://www.icpcs.com), announced the completion of a large international project controls implementation project. The successful completion of this implementation further solidifies Integrated Consulting’s global presence and establishes them as a successful contractor for project controls, project management, and training for the Korean and South East Asian markets.

The company wide implementation included integrating the clients’ current business processes with proven project management and controls methodologies to ensure an effective Project Controls Organization was established and could be sustained. Developing and integrating schedules, budgets, risk analysis, earned value techniques, developing a company standard WBS, and project management policies and procedures, were among the extensive deliverables required for this project. This implementation was put out for bid among several large, international firms. Integrated Consulting understood the nuances of the Korean market and the client’s desire to have a lump sum proposal. Submitting lump sum on such a large implementation presented a large risk potential. Underestimating the time and resources to complete the project had the risk of costing Integrated Consulting hundreds of thousands of dollars. Taking on the challenge of a lump sum helped Integrated Consulting win the award, but during the nine month project, several obstacles presented themselves, including overcoming cultural differences, responding to increasing client demand, and changes in work scope. By being proactive in dealing with each situation and persevering, Integrated Consulting was not only able to bring the project in at the contractual amount, but also on schedule.

Upon the completion of this implementation, Integrated Consulting’s CEO / President Josh Medica stated, “We are proud and honored to have completed this very large and intense project. With a team of four consultants working with the client for nine months, we developed a large and detailed PC Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on which our client can control future international projects.”

Millie Brinkley, VP of Integrated Consulting adds, “Working with such a large and well respected Korean EPCS Contractor is a huge honor. This implementation presented many challenges, taught us many lessons on working on a global scale and positioned us to build lasting relationships in Korea and the South East Asian markets.”

The final stage of this project will be to train internal employees on effective implementation and management. This intensive two week course will take place in Houston and will be the template for Integrated Consulting’s new “hands-on” training program. Topics will include fundamentals of project management, project controls, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Risk Management, Earned Value Management (EVM), and Planning and Scheduling. Each course is designed to provide a solid foundation of knowledge for implementation.
