Knowledge-sharing seminar on ILO Convention 102 brings together tripartite partners
This activity was organized in the context of a series of actions taken by the Government and social partners related to this Convention in 2023, as well as within the framework of the Global Ratification Campaign on Convention No. 102.
In May 2023, Mozambican workers’ organizations launched an advocacy campaign calling for the ratification of Convention No. 102. Subsequently, the Government and social partners collectively committed to initiating an assessment on the possibility of ratifying this norm.
Maya Stern-Plaza, ILO’s Social Protection Legal Specialist, led the seminar, providing a comprehensive overview of the convention and addressing queries from the engaged participants.
On the way forward, the ILO is committed to continuing providing technical assistance to tripartite partners, supporting them in all stages of the process towards ratification of Convention No. 102 and beyond in its subsequent imlplementation and monitoring.
The ILO's efforts in Mozambique to promote international social security standards receive support from the ACTION/Portugal initiative on "Strengthening Social Protection Systems in PALOP and Timor-Leste" and the IrishAid partnership focused on "Accelerating the Achievement of Universal Social Protection to Leave No One Behind."
