Denver, October 24, 2023 - The Department of State’s Electronic Recording Technology Board (ERTB) has awarded $337,644.50 to Elbert and Dolores Counties.

“Elbert and Dolores Counties will have the resources they need to make document recording more secure and efficient thanks to these grants,” said Secretary of State Jena Griswold. “I am proud to support counties with their funding needs.”

Elbert County was awarded $324,457.00 to maintain and update their recording systems, provide customers the opportunity to securely purchase document copies online, and add new safeguards to document recording practices. Elbert County’s Grant Agreement (PDF).

Dolores County was awarded $13,187.50 to establish, implement, and upgrade to a new electronic document management and recording system. Dolores County’s Grant Agreement (PDF).

The ERTB was created in 2016 with the mission of developing, maintaining, improving, replacing, or preserving land records systems in our state. The ERTB’s statutory authority was renewed in 2021 with new legislation that allows the board to consider security improvements for counties’ land recording systems. The grants help counties – especially in rural Colorado – invest in technological upgrades. Since its creation, the board has awarded more than $10 million dollars to ensure county clerks are able to improve and maintain property records and other important documents.
