Empathy in Action: 'Day of Dignity' Returns for its Third Year to Support Los Angeles' Individuals without Homes
"Day of Dignity" Returns: LATLC's Third Year of Empathy and Support for Los Angeles' Individuals Without Homes - Join us on October 28th!
This year, the “Day of Dignity” is partnering with THE CENTER and BLESSED SACRAMENT CATHOLIC CHURCH. The event will be providing showers, clothing, and food to individuals without homes. Rather than toiletry kits that were handed out for the prior “Day of Dignity” events that were held, Humanity Heroes will be providing 300 backpacks filled with 23 full-size items.
Karina Lallande, the 2023 Los Angeles Trial Lawyers’ Charities President, states, "The 'Day of Dignity' isn’t just a one-day endeavor, but an example of our year-round commitment to uplift those facing housing adversities. By building our resources, expertise, and compassion, we aim to extend a helping hand, ensuring that dignity, respect, and holistic care are within reach for all attendees."
For this year’s Day of Dignity, LATLC will be providing manicures, haircuts, chiropractic, medical, legal, and dental services to help along with 300 backpacks that were provided by Humanity Heroes. LATLC is proud to announce this will be their third Day of Dignity that they will be able to hold and help the Los Angeles community.
Each backpack will be filled with an assortment of items and for the first time this year, LATLC will be providing a passport for individuals with one of the backpacks. The passport will be used to participate in the booths that will be set up throughout the designated area. Once three stamps from the following areas are received, guests will receive the backpack.
Service Center: Legal, Jobs, Housing, Meals
Pampering Zone: Clothing, Manicure, Haircut, Shower
Health & Wellness Zone: Dental, Podiatry, Flu Shot, Pet Care
The legal services that will be provided will be in a private area for legal consultations. The legal services that will be offered are assistance in immigration, housing, employment, and expungement/criminal law. For the haircuts, Paul Mitchell School is planning to have around 10 hair students spread throughout several tents to accommodate the Los Angeles community.

About The Center in Hollywood:
The Center in Hollywood is a nonprofit ending isolation and breaking the cycle of homelessness through radical hospitality in Hollywood and throughout LA County. It is an inclusive space for anyone experiencing homelessness to feel welcome, feel safe, and receive services. The Center envisions an equitable world where the power of community prioritizes the health, housing, and dignity of every person. The Center has a history of social justice work from the 1920s. A sense of belonging and service are constants in The Center's rich history. Although a non-denominational organization, The Center originated at the Blessed Sacrament Parish community in Hollywood, inside a convent built in the mid-1920s where the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary lived. Throughout its history, The Center has created an environment that practices radical hospitality and welcomes all who walk through our doors. For more: www.thecenterinhollywood.org
