About the working visit of the delegation of Turkmenistan to Swiss Confederation

On April 17, 2023, the visit of the Turkmen delegation headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov to Geneva began to participate in a number of major international events and hold meetings in international organizations.
On the same day, the delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the ministerial meeting for the countries participating in the United Nations Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA). In its speech at the above forum, the delegation of Turkmenistan came up with a number of initiatives to further improve SPECA. At the same time, the importance of the proposal of Turkmenistan put forward in 2019 on the institutional strengthening of the Program through the creation of a SPECA secretariat was emphasized.
The Turkmen side also spoke for the formation of new financial sources necessary for the implementation of the project and program activities of SPECA. In this context, the proposal of Turkmenistan to establish the SPECA Multi-Partner Transport Fund was supported. The Turkmen side also spoke in favor of preparing a resolution of the UN General Assembly dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia.
