Vehicle Grants for Governmental Fleets Now Available

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is now accepting applications under the Governmental Alternative Fuel Fleet (GAFF) Program.

The GAFF Program will be providing an estimated $3.9 million in grant funding to help government entities with 15 motor vehicles or more purchase or lease new vehicles that operate primarily on compressed natural gas, liquified natural gas, liquified petroleum gas (propane), hydrogen fuel cells, or electricity.

Eligible applicants include:

  • state agencies,
  • counties,
  • municipalities,
  • school districts,
  • junior college districts,
  • river authorities,
  • water districts or other special districts, or
  • other political subdivisions.

Eligible applicants may also include a mass transit or school transportation provider or other public entity established to provide public or school transportation services.

Detailed eligibility requirements and guidance for how to apply for a GAFF grant can be found on the TERP website. Applications will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on May 16, 2023.
