SUMMARY OF CRASH/INCIDENT:

On October 18, 2022, at approximately 2220 hours, Trooper Audrey Currier was conducting speed enforcement on I-89 southbound near the rest area in Georgia. At about this time, she witnessed a vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed, which her Lidar confirmed at above 100 mph. When Trooper Currier pulled out to conduct a motor vehicle stop, the speeding vehicle continued southbound toward Exit 18, the Georgia exit. VSP followed the vehicle for a short time until it attempted to take Exit 18, at which point the vehicle crashed. The operator was determined to be a 17-year-old juvenile. He was checked by EMS at the scene for minor scratches, but otherwise was not injured. Due to the age of the operator, no additional information about this incident is available.
