Montgomery County Council to Hold Public Hearings on June 28, 2022

MARYLAND, June 27 - For Immediate Release: Monday, June 27, 2022

The County Council will hold public hearings to receive testimony on new items introduced to the Council as follows:

  1. Expedited Bill 20-22, Office of Food Systems Resilience - Established, would establish an Office of Food Systems Resilience as a non-principal office of the Executive Branch, prescribe the authorities and responsibilities of the Office of Food Systems Resilience, and generally amend the law regarding offices of the Executive Branch.

  2. Special Appropriation to the County Government’s FY22 Operating Budget, Montgomery County Public Schools, $7,626,595 for Title I, Part A Grant (Source of Funds: State funds).

  3. Supplemental Appropriation #22-92 to the County Government’s FY22 Operating Budget, Montgomery County Government Department of Transportation Taxicab Accessibility Transportation Services Improvement Fund, $772,329 (Source of Funds: Transportation Services Improvement Fund).

  4. Supplemental Appropriation #22-94 to the County Government’s FY22 Operating Budget, Montgomery County Government Technology and Emergency Connectivity Fund Grants $15,975,170 (Source of Funds: Federal Grant).

  5. Resolution to extend time until December 30, 2022, for submission of the FY16-22 Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service (MCFRS) Master Plan.

The Council is recommending that residents, who choose to attend in-person Council meetings, get fully vaccinated to protect themselves and others against Covid-19. If this is not possible, virtual participation is encouraged.

Residents who would like to call in or testify at a Council public hearing need to preregister on the Council's web page at https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/council/calendar.html. Once the public hearing sign up request form is submitted and the public hearing list is created, individuals will receive separate confirmation notifications that include the appropriate link to use or phone number to call for the public hearing.
