It is like trying to cultivate the apple without the apple tree. By trying to create wisdom through cultivating its attributes man ends up creating neither.

When will man wake up to the reality about wisdom. Wisdom is an innate property of the brain. It is always there in every normal human being; waiting to be actualized. It is virtually a fragrance of the brain. More accurately it is a fragrance of the pure self. The pure self itself is a fragrance of the brain. We cannot define and explain a fragrance but we do produce hundreds of varieties of fragrances. We have a huge fragrance industry that generates tens of millions of jobs and billions of dollars of revenue. The day man wakes up to the even bigger potential of jobs and revenue from the wisdom industry, man will not only provide the badly needed stimulus plan for the economy; man will create the cure for much of the current mess in every section of human life at the individual, group and country levels. From personal happiness to defense budgets and wars, from poverty to divorce to everything else in life; it is all a function of the wisdom factor.
It is only logical that in spite of all the research in the mind sciences man is still unable to define or explain the mind, self, spirit, consciousness, self-consciousness and soul; let alone the relationships between these confusing phenomena; as these are all fragrances. If man insists on trying to define these phenomena; man will keep struggling for ever because fragrances are impossibly hard to define.
Man is born with ignorance and the way the emotional self is set up; after birth, life experiences sculpture the self depending on the quality of the upbringing. Not only are many exposed to an unhealthy upbringing which means ignorance becomes part of the emotional brain structure; while the majority of parents provide their own false beliefs to the emotional brain structure. Even most Americans integrate beliefs that result in a trophy self image. Thus instead of the self becoming pure, it grows up into a part phony self image as parents add on extra impurities to the self ore, which further prevents full self actualization.
The self starts off just like gold. As an ore, a mixture of purity and impurity: a mixture of ignorance and wisdom. In the case of gold, the gold ore is purified into pure gold. As gold is purified its physical features become true to form. It takes on its golden color, shinny texture and malleability; ready in the hands of artists to be transform into dazzling jewelry.
Just imagine if more impurities were added to the already impure gold ore and without removing these impurities; the gold ore was expected to have pure gold qualities. One can try all one wants but will never create in the ore the properties of pure gold. The attributes of pure gold are the properties of pure gold and if one wants the qualities of pure gold one will have to physically change the gold ore into pure gold and completely get rid of the impurities. Imagine what would happen if those in the business of making pure gold just took the gold ore and tried to produce in it the properties of pure gold. What if they tried to create the shinning gold color and the malleability of pure gold in the gold ore. Would they ever succeed? Well this is exactly what man does when man tries to become the pure self without removing the impure ignorance powered phony self. Man not only leaves the emotional impurities in the brain he even adds his own impurities in the form of false beliefs and he expects the brain to act pure. No wonder; wisdom education is so frustrating and almost impossible because man tries to produce wisdom attributes from wisdom ore.
