PNNL Chief Financial Officer named 2011 CFO of the Year

Marty Conger, chief financial officer and associate laboratory director for Business Systems at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, has been named 2011 CFO of the Year for the state of Washington by the Puget Sound Business Journal.

Conger, who has served as PNNL's chief financial officer since 2006, was named CFO of the Year in the Large Nonprofit Organization category during a gala dinner event at Benaroya Hall in Seattle on March 10.  Other finalists included David Danielson, Casey Family Programs; Gary McLaughlin, Overlake Hospital Medical Center; and Mike Pete, United Way of King County.

Conger is the first CFO from eastern Washington to receive the honor.  Under his leadership, PNNL experienced a 45-percent growth in business revenues to more than $1 billion annually. He also spearheaded development of a successful financing plan for two private facilities and execution of an affordability plan for seven new state-of-the-art research facilities — valued at more than $300 million — on PNNL's Richland campus.

Conger joined PNNL in 1976.  He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma in 1976.
