House Speaker-designate John Boehner (R-OH) today announced he has selected Rep. Joe Pitts (R-PA) to deliver the Weekly Republican Address on Friday, December 24.  Rep. Pitts will mark the Christmas season by paying tribute to the men and women of our Armed Forces and touching upon the importance of service to others.  

“Joe Pitts has dedicated his life to serving our country and sustaining the values on which it was built,” Boehner said. “I can think of no one better suited than Joe to convey our gratitude to our servicemembers and their loved ones, and our hope that every family have a blessed and joyous holiday season.”  

Congressman Pitts in his seventh term representing the 16th District of Pennsylvania, covering Lancaster County and portions of Chester and Berks Counties.  In the 112th Congress, he will serve as Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health.  Before coming to the U.S. House, he served in the Pennsylvania State House, establishing a reputation for ethics and fair dealing. He served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, flying 116 combat missions on B-52s during Vietnam.

"It's a great honor to wish the nation a Merry Christmas on behalf of my Republican colleagues,” Pitts said. “ This is a time of year for celebration and to honor those serving our nation in the armed services, in hospitals, and as emergency responders.  These individuals uphold the ideals of the one who came to be the servant of all."
