Boehner Statement on GOP Steering Committee Recommendations on Committee Chairmen for the 112th Congress
Washington
(Dec 7)
Speaker-designate John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement today after the House GOP Steering Committee made recommendations on committee chairmen for the 112 th Congress to the full House Republican Conference. These recommendations must now be ratified by the full GOP Conference:
“The members of our new majority have made a pledge to America to focus on the American people’s priorities – helping small businesses create jobs, cutting spending, repealing the job-killing health care law, protecting life, and reforming the way Congress works. Each of the candidates recommended by the Steering Committee today has committed to advancing these priorities if entrusted with the responsibility of serving the people of this nation as a committee chair. Like the incoming majority as a whole, this slate should and will be judged on its effectiveness in restoring a government worthy of the trust of the people it serves – one that honors our Constitution and stands up for the values that built a great nation: economic freedom, individual liberty, and personal responsibility.”
