Twitter loses its ‘tweet’ - at least for now

Greensboro, North Carolina (CaymanMama.com) — Some Twitter users have lost their “tweets” and they are not happy about it.

The popular social networking site when down for many users on Thursday and the service quickly issued a notice that they were actively working to fix the matter.

Many users of the the hot micro-blogging service stopped receiving their messages, called “tweets”, shortly before 11:00 am (1500 GMT).

Three hours later, Twitter was still disrupted and so were the users.

“We are currently investigating a problem causing many users timelines to be delayed,” Twitter tweeted.

Not long after the first message, Twitter.com issued another message that read “timelines remain stale for users. We are deploying fixes to address the problem.”

Twitter has grown by leaps and bounds since it first launched the site in August 2006 and now boasts some 50 million users, if not more, including famous celebrities, large corporations and politicians.

With this many users “tweeting” at one time, the demand and prove to be tremendous for Twitter’s computer servers, which can in turn slow service or shut it down completely.
