TCEQ approves fines totaling $604,568

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality today approved penalties totaling $554,130 against 21 regulated entities for violations of state environmental regulations.

Agreed orders were issued for the following enforcement categories: one agriculture, eight air quality, two industrial wastewater discharge, one multimedia, one municipal solid waste, one municipal wastewater discharge, one petroleum storage tank, two public water system, one sludge, and one water quality.

Three default orders were issued for the public water system enforcement category.

Included in the total is a fine of $133,456 against Formosa Plastics Corporation, Texas, for air quality violations stemming from the entity’s failure to prevent unauthorized emissions and failure to comply with maximum allowable emissions rates, at various times from 2012 through 2019.

In addition, on Jan. 19 and 26, the executive director approved penalties totaling $50,438 against 22 entities.
