New industrial technologies development centre established by Gazprom Neft

Gazprom Neft has established an Industrial Innovations Technology Centre (Gazpromneft-Industrial Innovations LLC) to manage complex R&D activities including engineering and technology licensing, as well as developing technological expertise and oversight over the company’s industrial-production investment projects.

Specialists at the new centre will be involved in developing full-cycle innovation management — from finding and selecting promising projects to pilot deployment of new solutions. The Centre’s main tasks will be finding and analysing promising solutions, developing an integrated and cohesive R&D project management system for every stage of development and deployment, engineering developed technologies, and monetising and licensing these.

Gazprom Neft is establishing its own laboratory-testing complex for developing and rolling-out new technologies, to be located in the St Petersburg Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Novoorlovskaya. The company’s R&D and production cluster in Omsk — including the Omsk Refinery, Gazpromneft-Catalytic Systems, and the Omsk Lubricants Plant — will also be put to use in innovation activities.

“We make use of both our own developments, and the best options from Russian manufacturers, in developing technologies throughout our assets. We have strong expertise in selecting and deploying innovations in as complex an area as continuous production. This experience can be rolled-out to other industrial sectors. Systemic work on the part of the Centre will promote the management of technological development in collaboration with the wider innovation ecosystem, allowing us to take our experience to market.”

“This new centre will cover the technological innovation management chain — from determining business requirements to developing and deploying technologies in production processes. Solutions in oil refining, specialist chemicals, polymers and new materials are all in our sights. The Centre’s operational model will allow us to address both practical production problems, and the development of completely new products.”
