​A resurfacing project that will give motorists a smoother ride on more than five miles of Route 6 in Clarendon Borough, and Mead and Sheffield townships, Warren County is scheduled to start soon.

The project will include paving of 5.25 miles of roadway from approximately Winger Avenue in Clarendon Borough to Willow Street in Sheffield Township. Work will also include base repairs, micro surfacing, and pavement markings.

Construction is expected to begin August 3, 2020 weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by late August 2020.

No detours are expected in connection with the project. Motorists may encounter lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers. Drivers should be alert for traffic pattern shifts and lane restrictions and anticipate travel delays during active work hours. 

The contractor is Suit Kote of Cortland, NY. The contract cost is $499,056.15, which is to be paid entirely with federal funds. 

PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.

Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, and relevant training.
