Braley named Director of Commission's Telephone and Water Division

Hallowell, Maine - April 24, 2019 - The Maine Public Utilities Commission (Commission) announced today that David Braley will serve as the Director of the Telephone and Water Division for the Commission.

"David brings to the Commission extensive experience and knowledge of Maine's Drinking Water Program and is highly respected by water utilities and other stakeholders in Maine," said Philip L. Bartlett II, Chairman of the Commission. The Commission welcomes David and we look forward to his leadership with the utilities we regulate.

Braley comes to the Commission from the states Division of Environmental and Community Health, Drinking Water Program serving as the Assistant Director. The Drinking Water Program is responsible for administering and enforcing the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act in Maine. Braley has broad experience with the drinking water program, including managing the subsurface water unit. He also directed the work of the Maine Well Drillers Commission and has in-depth knowledge of legislation, rulemaking, policy and regulation. Braley received his bachelors in Geological Sciences from the University of Maine and is a licensed Geologist.
