ISHM Achieves ISO 17024 Accreditation

The Institute for Safety and Health Management has had an eventful 2017 including achieving ISO 17024 Accreditation

YUMA, ARIZONA, UNITED STATES, January 9, 2018 / -- The Board of Directors and staff of ISHM put together a plan of action and piece by piece verified that processes were in compliance or changed processes and procedures to assure compliance with the world recognized ISO Personal Certification requirements.

Personnel certification has become an important element of verifying the competence of an increasingly mobile and global workforce, underscoring the value of industry-recognized credentials that can be carried across national borders. This accreditation is very valuable to current and future persons with ISHM Accredited Certifications.

After several reviews the organization felt that it met every ISO requirement and sought accreditation with the International Certification Accreditation Council (ICAC) who very carefully reviewed an electronic submission. When satisfied with this ICAC sent a two man team to the ISHM offices to view the processes first hand. It was an all day event after which they went back to their respective companies. One week later the ICAC Board voted to Approve the ISHM Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM) and the Certified Safety Management Practitioner (CSMP) for ISO 17024 accreditation.

Pinkie Wood, ISHM Board Chair, says "We want to share with you our excitement in receiving ISO/IEC 17024 Accreditation. This accreditation is a global acknowledgement of ISHM’s commitment to achieving the highest standards at the same time ensuring the validity of our certification programs. With this accreditation, we have achieved a higher consumer and public confidence in our knowledge, education and overall capabilities on a global level.
I would like you all to join me in thanking the administrative/management team for all their hard work and diligence throughout the process of obtaining the ISO/IEC 17024 Accreditation. This is another example of ISHM progressing to a top global accreditation program."

ISHM is proud to be the only organization that offers totally management focused EHS certifications. Holders of these certifications have demonstrated education, experience, and knowledge through testing that they are ready and able to lead EHS programs at any level.

According to Tom Slavin, long time ISHM Board Member and supporter," ISO/IEC 17024 certification is the premier mark of excellence for a credentialing organization. It assures that ISHM’s policies and procedures conform to the highest international standards for a certification body.

The ISO/IEC 17024:2012 standard protects the integrity and ensures the validity of certification programs. Those who hold an ISHM certificate deserve to be proud of this well-deserved recognition."

Those wishing to achieve a highly recognized, dual accredited, EHS certification should submit an application with ISHM.
