School Safety Certifications Seeing Increased Interest and Demand
Education Institutions K-16 are understanding the need for an increased safety presence
YUMA, AZ, USA, March 6, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Active shooter and emergencies are certainly issues that need much attention and visibility. Many schools and districts have secured the services of School Resource Officers (SROs) to help with this vitally important concern. There are so many other areas of possible loss that need immediate attention that is necessary to identify someone to head the safety initiative in functions such as; lab safety; shop safety; transportation safety, traffic patterns around the school safety, playground safety, gyms and athletic activities.
These issues are increasingly being managed by a Professional School Safety Manager or in some cases by adding the EHS responsibilities as an additional duty to current staff.
Either way it is highly beneficial to have a certified person doing these most important management activities as it lends recognition by others of the knowledge of the person as well as a great tool to inform family members of the importance the school places on the safety and well-being of students, staff and visitors.
The recent recognition of the importance of Education Safety Experts is increasing the demand for certified professionals.
Funding is obviously an issue, but looking at the big picture when a safety person prevents an incident it results in savings to the hiring authority. Just a couple of these 'saves' will easily pay for the EHS pro.
The institute for Safety and Health Management (ISHM) offers two management focused School Safety Certifications that for individuals in those capacities. When at Certified EHS pro works with the SRO there will by a synergy that immediately will result in savings.
