King Adds "Notebook" to New England Diary
"Notebook" will feature vignette's of Life in New England
New England Diary, founded in 2013 by Whitcomb, a veteran editor, writer and media executive, offers a wide range of commentary, reporting and art, often through a regional optic but with universal themes, too. Indeed, it seeks whenever possible the universal in the local and regional.
King said that he plans to write vignettes on his life in New England.
"I am a modern-day explorer, discovering New England, which is, in many ways, as new to me as a foreign land, " King said. "Although I visited the region often over the past 50 years, I never got to grips with the people and the culture in the way I am now doing. Flying in and out of Boston or Providence to make a speech does not do it."
Just over four years ago, King moved from Washington, D.C. to Rhode Island. "I am still in the thrill of relocation, where every day produces a new discovery, a new reminder that I am not from the region, much as I appreciate it,’’ he said.
King is executive producer and host of White House Chronicle, a weekly national news and public affairs program, airing on PBS and SiriusXM Radio. He is also a columnist for the InsideSources syndicate.
He worked for the BBC and The Washington Post as well as running a successful publishing company, whose titles included The Energy Daily, Defense Week and New Technology Week.
He is married to journalist and Middle East expert Linda Gasparello, a native of Hingham, Mass.
