Every Child a Reader Launches Crowdfunding Campaign for Original Graphic Novel

Original graphic novel to be published for the 98th annual Children’s Book Week, May 1-7, 2017.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, December 14, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Every Child a Reader has launched a crowdfunding campaign for an original graphic novel to be published as part of the 98th annual Children’s Book Week, May 1 to 7, 2017. The campaign is hosted on Indiegogo’s nonprofit platform, Generosity, and is intended to support a print run of the Children’s Book Week comic and provide a small stipend to the contributing authors and artists. The campaign can be found here: https://www.generosity.com/education-fundraising/children-s-book-week-comic/x/3733207

The Children’s Book Week comic is an anthology, featuring short stories from renowned children’s graphic novel creators, including Gene Luen Yang, Jeffrey Brown, Charise Mericle Harper, Laurent Linn, and over a dozen other contributors. Each short comic will be based on the 2017 Children’s Book Week slogan, One World, Many Stories. The purpose of the comic is to promote visual literacy and supplement under-resourced schools and libraries. A digital version of the comic will be available as a free download beginning May 1 at EveryChildAReader.net.

All donations will help Every Child a Reader cover the cost of a print run of the comic and provide a small stipend to the featured authors and illustrators. The printed comics will be distributed at consumer events and at Children’s Book Week events in schools, libraries, and bookstores nationwide. Donors who contribute $10 to the campaign will receive a print version of the Children’s Book Week comic, while other donor rewards include a Children’s Book Week poster, tote bag, and a signed copy of the comic.

Every Child a Reader is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to inspiring a love of reading in children and teens across America, and is supported by individual donations, grants, foundations, and the Children’s Book Council.

Children’s Book Week is the annual celebration of books for young people and the joy of reading. Launched in 1919, it is the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country.
