He directed the yearly Long Beach Memorial Critical Care Symposium for the past 9 years and served on their Academic Advisory Council.

Dr. Tanios has received multiple awards and grants, and has written numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. He received the Outstanding Teaching Attending Service award by St Mary Medical Center, Internal Medicine Residency Program and was also awarded teaching “Attending of the Year” by the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of California Irvine. Dr. Tanios received the Golden Apple Award for Teaching excellence from the Family Medicine program at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and the prestigious Munzer Family Award for Research and Literary accomplishment from the Memorial Medical Center Foundation. He was also selected as “Super Doctor® 2016” (Pulmonary Medicine, California).

Dr. Tanios has also been awarded fellowship status by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the American College of Chest Physicians. He is a member American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians, and Society of Critical Care Medicine.
